Soerovikin is regarded as the most ruthless, but also the most prepared commander who was active in Ukraine. The second-in-command in Ukraine has not been seen or heard from since late June. According to a Russian MP, he has not been fired from the army, but has been relieved of his duties.

According to local Russian sources and Milbloggers, he has been placed under house arrest for his role in the Wagner rebellion. Soerovikin was known to be very fond of Wagner. During the rebellion, he would – briefly – have sided with the insurgents. Soerovikin is no longer allowed to leave his apartment, but is still allowed to receive guests, including his employees. No official charges have yet been filed against the general, and no investigation has even been launched, it sounds. He has been advised to stay under the radar to save his skin. Until he is “forgotten” by President Putin.
