FC Volendam is left with a substantial amount of money from the approaching transfer from Micky van de Ven to Tottenham Hotspur. According to De Telegraaf, VfL Wolfsburg and Tottenham put all the formalities surrounding the transfer of the defender on paper on Saturday morning. The English pay a transfer fee of 40 million euros and a maximum of 7.5 million euros in bonuses. Van de Ven will fly to London with his agent and father on Sunday: a medical examination awaits on Sunday and he will be presented on Monday.

At FC Volendam, the flag can go out as soon as the transfer has been completed. After all, Van de Ven went through the youth academy of the North Hollanders from the age of twelve and so the club can look forward to a nice solidarity contribution anyway. In the negotiations with Wolfsburg in the summer of 2021, Volendam also stipulated a resale percentage of no less than fifteen percent. Although the purchase price of Wolfsburg (3.5 million euros) must still be deducted from the provisional forty million euros. All in all, Volendam is already collecting almost 5.5 million euros.

With his 3.5 million euros, Van de Ven is already by far the most expensive outgoing transfer in the club’s history. Forty percent of the 5.5 million euros will go to the investors of the Volendam players’ fund, but an additional million-dollar amount is nevertheless in the offing. In comparison: the number two on the list of most expensive outgoing transfers is Robert Molenaar. The former center defender moved to Leeds United for 1.4 million euros in the 1996/97 season.

Van de Ven has had a strong season. The 22-year-old mandekker, who was under contract in Wolfsburg until mid-2027, was good for 1 goal and 2 assists in 36 appearances. Earlier, Van de Ven was also linked with a transfer to Liverpool. His xTV is estimated by the FootballTransfers algorithm at nineteen million euros.

With his transfer, Van de Ven becomes Tottenham Hotspur’s fourth summer acquisition. The North London club previously strengthened itself with James Maddison (for 46.3 million euros from Leicester City), Guglielmo Vicario (for 20 million euros from Empoli) and Manor Solomon (free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk). Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski also officially joined the selection this summer, after Tottenham had already reached an agreement about their transfers earlier this year.
