FC Bayern Munich is challenged twice at the weekend. After the Bundesliga opener in Bremen, the “dream game” is coming up – in Italy.

Munich – FC Bayern Munich opens the new Bundesliga season on Friday, August 18th. The guest appearance at SV Werder Bremen (kick-off: 8.30 p.m., all TV information about the game) is not the only task that the record champions have to deal with this weekend.

Only 17 hours after the start of the Bundesliga in Bremen: FC Bayern is playing in Italy

Because the next game is on Saturday afternoon! The Bavarians are playing their traditional “dream game”, this year’s opponent is a selection from the “Weinbeisser Kaltern” fan club – and they are at home in South Tyrol, Italy.

Bayern will be fighting for the first Bundesliga points until after 10 p.m. on Friday, after which they will spend the night in Bremen before the flight back south on Saturday morning. But not to Munich, but a few hundred kilometers further south to Bolzano. The dream game kicks off at 3 p.m. – less than 17 hours after the first Bundesliga match. A business trip that is simply part of FC Bayern. The bosses recently had to make that clear to coach Thomas Tuchel.

FC Bayern denies dream game in South Tyrol

The game is played in the forest stadium at the district sports facility in St. Anton in the Altenburg Forest in Caldaro on the Wine Route. After a three-year Corona break, it is the first dream game for Bayern – it will be the twelfth overall. The South Tyrolean fan club prevailed over the jury with the motto “South Tyrol is red”, as reported by the Munich team on their website.

“Behind the fan club from the town of 8,200 inhabitants is the entire South Tyrol fan region with a total of 39 fan clubs and around 6,000 members. The umbrella organization has existed since 1990. Half of the profits from the dream game go to FC Bayern Hilfe eV, which supports people and institutions in need.

Large supporting program at the Bayern dream game in Kaltern

In addition to the game, morning shopping, festivals and a children’s program are also on the agenda. It should be an unforgettable day in the history of the fan club. Of course, the Bayern pros themselves also play a key role – if new signing Harry Kane doesn’t score the first goal in the FCB jersey at the Bundesliga opener against Bremen, it should then rattle in South Tyrol the next day at the latest. The Englishman drew attention to himself on Thursday with a shoe campaign. (mind)
