Kaua Santos there, Jesper Lindström gone, Christopher Lenz gone: There’s a lot going on at Eintracht Frankfurt on the home straight of the transfer marathon: half a day after Lindström’s departure, the SBU has already equipped the squad with a new offensive player. The Hessians announced the commitment of Fares Chaibi until the summer of 2028 on Wednesday morning.

The 20-year-old offensive force comes from FC Toulouse and costs a basic fee of ten million euros. At the Ligue 1 club, Chaibi was used in all attacking positions, but most often as a left winger. This position close to the touchline does not exist in Dino Toppmöller’s system so far, but there is a need for it in the adjacent positions. After all, not only Lindstrom but also Daichi Kamada is known to have left the club.

Important role in the sensations cup winner

“He can be used variably in several offensive positions and brings attributes that will enrich our game,” says SGE sports director Timmo Hardung. “In the talks with Fares we noticed how much he burns for the new task and Eintracht Frankfurt.”

Chaibi only made his professional football debut in August 2022, but then quickly took on an important role with eventual winners of the Sensations Cup Toulouse. He has three goals and two assists in five appearances in the competition. Not bad conditions for his time in Frankfurt, so at a club that has repeatedly proven its fondness for the DFB Cup in recent years.

He was also used in 36 of the 38 league games, rarely more than 90 minutes, but contributed five goals and five assists. Chaibi, who also has French citizenship, made his debut for the Algerian national team in March 2023.
