Costa Rican Judokas Secure Spots in Santiago 2023 Pan American Games

The Pan American Judo Confederation announced that Costa Rican judokas, Diana Brenes Fallas and Sebastián Sancho Chinchilla, have secured their places in the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.

Previously, these Costa Rican athletes had obtained bronze medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023, and now they seek to repeat their success in the Chilean capital.

In the case of Sancho, his call is in the 60 kilogram category, competing with athletes from countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Panama, the United States, Chile, Ecuador, Venezuela and Colombia.

On the other hand, Diana will compete against teams from Ecuador, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, the United States and Chile in the 70 kilogram division.

“Your dedication and effort have paid off, and now is the time to shine in the most important sporting event in the region. We are ready to experience epic moments on the tatami!”, mentioned the Pan American Judo Confederation on their social networks.

Diana and Sebastián represent Costa Rica as the main contenders to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Santiago 2023 Pan American Games will take place from Friday, October 20 to Sunday, November 5.
