Calvin Bassey will be back in Amsterdam on Monday afternoon. The 23-year-old defender made a transfer to Fulham at the end of July. With the income from the transfers of Bassey, Jurriën Timber and Edson Álvarez, Ajax finally has the necessary resources to strengthen the defense after missing out on the Champions League. Jakov Medic already came over from FC St. Pauli and 23-year-old Josip Sutalo is Timber’s intended successor. Steijn has already indicated that he is also looking for a left central defender or reinforcement in the left back position.
