Bruno Armirail wins the Tour du Poitou-Charentes time trial

Bruno Armirail (Groupama-FDJ) won, this Thursday afternoon, stage 3b of the Tour du Poitou-Charentes, a 22.1 km time trial in La Roche-Posay. The Pyrenean completed the course in 25’13”, ten seconds ahead of the Norwegian Søren Wærenskjold (Uno-X Pro Cycling Team).

The two men crushed the competition, the third runner in this time, the German Max Walscheid (Cofidis), clocking in at more than 48 seconds. His French teammate Anthony Perez finished 4th, in the same second.

Thanks to his second place, Søren Wærenskjold recovers the leader’s white jersey, which he had already worn after his victory on the first stage on Tuesday. The Norwegian is ahead of Bruno Armirail by six seconds before Friday’s last stage, between Moncoutant-sur-Sèvres and Poitiers.

A few hours before the time trial, the Italian Samuele Rivi (Eolo-Kometa) had created a surprise by winning stage 3a.
