Boca presented a project to expand the Bombonera

Club Atlético Boca Juniors presented this Tuesday before the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires a project to expand the Bombonerawhich contemplates a capacity for 82 thousand people.

The initiative bears the signature of the president of Boca, Jorge Amor Ameal, and seeks to specify the expansion of the Alberto J. Armando stadium through the project “Bonbonniere 360“, for which the modification of the urban regulations is required, with the affirmative vote of 40 legislators.

“The Bill promotes the modification of the urban regulations provided for in Special Equipment No. 56 ‘Stadium and Sports Complex of the Boca Juniors Athletic Club’ of the Urban Code that will allow the expansion of the current Alberto J. Armando Stadium of the Boca Juniors Athletic Club with a capacity of 82,000 spectators”, says the presentation of the Ribera club.

“In addition to a sports use, such as football matches, the incorporation of other commercial and cultural uses is foreseenso it will be a modern stadium with multiple uses that will promote the development of the area,” the text adds.

It also proposes “the location of a microstadiumwhere sports, cultural and commercial activities can be carried out, such as different shows that will encourage greater activities in the sector”.

“Finally, it is established that the stadium’s surroundings be destined for landscaped green spaces for public use and access control as well as the installation of service areas that will benefit the integration of the new stadium with the urban environment,” the presentation closes.

The expansion of the Bombonera is one of the central objectives management led by Ameal and Vice President Juan Román Riquelme, also responsible for the “xeneize” Football Council.

The “Bonbonniere 360” project

The Bombonera 360 project, promoted by President Jorge Amor Ameal, proposes the expansion of 20,000 seats in the capacity of the stadium, and up to now the purchase of the land adjacent to Del Valle Iberlucea street, where today the exclusive boxes.

It integrates the original idea of ​​the Delpini-Sulcic-Bes studio, author of the construction of La Bombonera, and seeks to form the complete ring in a symmetrical way, tearing down the boxes that overlook Dr. del Valle Iberlucea street and building three trays similar to those of the west-facing stalls through the purchase of the two half-blocks located between Aristóbulo del Valle, Antonio L. Solezzi and Brandsen streets.

Thus, the stadium will have a capacity of approximately 82,000 people and the alternative of installing a lightweight roof around the perimeter.

The stadium, named Alberto J. Armando, and which celebrated its 83rd anniversary since its inauguration on May 25, 1940, currently has a capacity of 54,000 spectators.
