Biarritz easily beats Colomiers at the start of the Pro D2 season

Biarritz begins its season with a victory. A few hours after the French Rugby Federation released the players’ licenses, the soundtrack largely won against Colomiers (35-18), Thursday evening, at the start of the Pro D2 season.

Even if they opened the scoring in the 5th minute, with a try from former Welsh international Rhys Webb, the Biarrots were manhandled for half time (13-13), in particular by an excellent Brett Herron, former player of Biarritz, who scored all the points for their team in the first period.

Then, in the second half, thanks to the opportunism of English winger Zach Kibirige who took advantage of a bad pass to intercept the ball and slip into the in-goal (49th), and at the foot of Ilian Perraut, Biarritz broke away and Colomiers never managed to get back together.

Colomiers finishes at 14

The center Tyler Morgan worsened the score a few minutes later (61st), before Kibirige scored twice by taking advantage once again of an approximate pass (71st).

Colomiers, who finished the match at 14 after the expulsion of the second line Maxime Granouillet for an elbow in the head of a Biarrot (66th), will score a last try at the end of the match, by the Argentinian hooker Pablo Dimcheff (75th). But the gap was too big to hope to come back. On the other hand, this burst deprives the BO of the offensive bonus.

Before the continuation of the 1st day of Pro D2 Friday evening, Biarritz temporarily settles at the top of the classification.
