Bárbara Natalia Padilla Rugerio Prepares for Cadet World Championship in Croatia

The judoka from Tlaxcala, Bárbara Natalia Padilla Rugerio will compete in the +70 kilograms category at the Cadet World Championship, which will take place in Zagreb, Croatia, from August 22 to 27. The three-time Conade 2023 Nationals champion affirms that she lives a stage with greater confidence and security in her sports work, so she hopes to enjoy this season of international competition to the fullest.

With the support of the state government, through the Tlaxcala Sports Institute (IDET), Bárbara Natalia Padilla Rugerio will compete with 477 athletes from 67 countries who will meet in this sports fair.

“In this new opportunity that is presented to me, we will see a new Natalia, completely different from last year, a better version that will give everything of herself to reach the highest possible competitive level”commented the athlete from Tlaxcala.

Natalia Padilla, who has experience of having participated last year in this international fair and after having endorsed the title of champion in Conade Nationals, commented that the mind is an important factor for sports development in this type of challenge; However, she assumes the commitment calmly, but also with the emotion of being present at this fair again.

She assured that the training sessions she has carried out together with her coach Miguel Ángel Muñoz Guzmán have prepared her, “currently I really enjoy training, before I struggled because they seemed too long, but now I am aware of what I am doing and that it is going to influence my preparation. Of course, not every day everything goes well, it is true that discipline is very important”.

Visibly excited, the winner of the 2021 State Sports Award will also visit Canada at the beginning of September, as Mexico will be present at the 2023 Oceania Cadet Pan American Championship.

“Something that fills my heart a lot is representing Mexico and Tlaxcala obviously, it is something incredible that is happening, it is welcome and we are taking it in the best way because you learn from everything and you get an experience from everything”.

The motivation that Bárbara Natalia has had to achieve her goals has been to surpass herself, but also to take into account the responsibility of being an example, “disappointing my mind when I say I can’t, going over the limit I had established, but also those who have been an important motivation for me have been the Baby Judo team, the fact that they see me and tell me I want to be big Like you, it’s a responsibility, but it’s also something that fills my heart because it’s nice to contribute a small grain of sand for when they grow up.”

He concluded that the relationship with his coach has become closer due to the sports commitments they have had, “now we have more confidence, communication, clearly if something is not done well he scolds me, but I think that a greater connection has been generated than clearly has influenced the results.
