ATP Kitzbuhel 2023: happy tie-breaks for Thiem, good first for Djere and Altmaier

The American hard court season is almost upon us, but in Europe we continue to play on clay, as in the Kitzbuhel tournament. The most anticipated player was certainly Dominic Thiem and the landlord didn’t disappoint expectations, imposing himself with a double tie-break on the Argentinian Facundo Bagnis. ORMs Thiem will face the Chinese Zhizhen Zhang, who dominated against the Serbian Dusan Lajovic 6-3 6-2.

It is present in Austria Laszlo Djere, who continues his great run of form after the final in Hamburg, beating Australia’s Christopher O’Connell 6-4 7-6. The Serbian will now face the Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild, who beat the Austrian Novak in two sets 6-3 6-4.

Comeback victory for the Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, who defeated the Argentinian lucky loser Juan Manuel Cerundolo with a score of 6-7 6-4 6-2. A success in three sets also for the German Daniel Altmaier, executioner of Jannik Sinner at the last Roland Garros, who defeated the Swiss Marc-Andrea Huesler 6-7 6-2 6-4.
