Ajax has made an attempt to take over Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion. However, the Dutch mandekker turned out to be too expensive, De Telegraaf reports.
The former player of sc Heerenveen, among others, made a strong impression last season at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he is increasingly a basic player. For that reason, his club did not want to cooperate with a transfer. Reportedly, Brighton wanted tens of millions for Van Hecke.
The 23-year-old Van Hecke was rented out to Blackburn Roverers after his period at Heerenveen. Last season he came to eight Premier League games for Brighton.
