The Road World Championships will be held in Abu Dhabi in 2028. That was decided by the world association UCI on the sidelines of the Super World Cup in Glasgow.
This is the third time that the title fights will be held in Asia after Utsunomiya/Japan (1990) and Doha (2016). Abu Dhabi was also awarded the 2029 World Track Cycling Championships.
Next year, the Road World Championships will take place in Zurich, before it will be Africa’s turn in 2025 with Rwanda for the first time. Montreal will follow in 2026, and a year later the next Multi World Championships with all disciplines is planned in the French region of Haute-Savoie.
