Hannover 96 and SC Paderborn get the first wins of this second division season. The traditional duel between Fürth and St. Pauli offered little spectacle.

After a disappointing start to the season, Hannover 96 managed to break free on the third match day of the second Bundesliga.

The team of coach Stefan Leitl, who was criticized, won 2-1 (1-0) at Hansa Rostock, who had started the season with two wins. Phil Neumann (22nd minute) and Cedric Teuchert (87th penalty) ensured Hannover’s first win of the season. An own goal by Neumann (58th) had led to the equalizer in between.

96 had previously drawn twice and failed in the DFB Cup at second division relegated SV Sandhausen – not enough for the ambitious club management around Martin Kind. “Today is an important away game for us. That’s what we want to focus on,” Leitl said before the game, evading his situation at Sky.

In fact, his team had everything under control in Rostock, but also benefited from a serious positional mistake by Hansa goalkeeper Markus Kolke during Neumann’s tour, which is well worth seeing.

Paderborn also wins

SC Paderborn also achieved their first win of the season in a 2-1 (1-0) win at Fortuna Düsseldorf. Even without the injured prominent newcomer Max Kruse, the SCP initially showed a strong performance at Fortuna, who found no means against the strong defense of the guests in the first half. Florent Muslija (5th) provided Düsseldorf’s first goal of the season early on.

Only after the change did the ambitious Fortuna increase the pressure and only played on the guest goal. Coach Daniel Thioune’s team was only briefly rewarded with the equalizer after a header from Jordy de Wijs (57′). Paderborn’s Sirlord Conteh (59th) completed a counterattack for the now happy Paderborn lead, which lasted until the end.

Zero number in Fuerth

There was a disappointing zero number between Greuther Fürth and FC St. Pauli. Instead of the expected offensive spectacle in the traditional second division duel, the two highly traded teams largely neutralized each other.
