The launch was carried out within the framework of the regular meeting of authorities of the Executive and Technical Committee of the Patagonian Sports Entity -EPaDe-, which takes place in Ushuaia with representatives from La Pampa, Chubut, Neuquén, Santa Cruz, Río Negro and Tierra del Fuego .
When taking the floor, the Secretary of Sport of Río Negro and also president of the Entity highlighted the accompaniment of the Nation and said that “for us these Games are an emblem; They have filled us with pride for many years.” And he added that “in a very diverse Patagonia, with different political flags, we have shown that we can all pull the same car and we were able to achieve many things to make the sport grow.”
On the other hand, the Secretary of Sports of the Nation, Inés Arrondo, maintained that “we work together with the provinces in the construction of a federal country and to be able to promote Argentine sports, every day”, and added that “the Epade they represent a lot for national sport, they are the opportunity for thousands of young people to get closer to sport”.
The 17th edition of the Epade Games and the 5th of the ParaEpade will take place from December 4 to 8 in Tierra del Fuego. Ushuaia will receive the athletics, cycling, soccer and swimming competitions, as well as the entire contest for people with disabilities (swimming, athletics, boccia and adapted basketball), while Río Grande will do the same with basketball, judo and volleyball.
The authorities held different meetings prior to the official launch of the Games, while today Thursday they will tour the sports venues, both in Ushuaia and Río Grande, to verify that they are suitable to receive the young people of Patagonia. Finally, on Friday they will meet again to continue the dialogue and then end the meeting.
It should be noted that Río Negro is the top winner of both contests, after consecrating himself 8 times in the conventional competition and three in the adapted one.
This year the Río Negro delegation will seek to climb back to the top of the podium after being runner-up to the Epade and ParaEpade in 2022.
Present at the event were the Governor of Tierra del Fuego, Gustavo Melella, Ceferino Almudévar from La Pampa, Carlos Turdo, also from Tierra del Fuego, Martín López from Santa Cruz, Alejandra Piedecasas from Neuquén and Gustavo Hernández from Chubut.
The undersecretary for Sports Coordination, Natalia Mildenberger, the director of Adapted Sports, Javier Leiría, and the head of the provincial delegation, Guadalupe Gorriti, also said present within the Río Negro delegation.
