[영양군 세계타임즈=한성국 기자] On July 13th (Thursday), Yeongyang-gun (Governor Do-chang Oh) held a resolution meeting at the gymnasium of Yeongyang Elementary School with Yeongyang’s badminton club members to attract a pumped-storage power plant in Yeongyang-gun.
This event was prepared by the members of the Yeongyang-gun Badminton Association who wished to attract pumped-storage power generation, a long-cherished regional project, while holding the 16th Yeongyang-gun badminton competition. About 50 people, including the president of the Yeongyang-gun Sports Council, made a decision to attract a pumped-storage power plant.
If a pumped-storage power plant is attracted to Yeongyang-gun, the pumped-storage power generation construction project cost of KRW 2 trillion from the national budget will be invested to boost the local economy, and it will be possible to secure KRW 93.6 billion in local development project expenses and KRW 1.4 billion in local tax revenue annually, and in the long term, it will be a complex tourism resource. As it can contribute to the revitalization of the local economy through this, Yeongyang-gun residents, who belong to areas at risk of population extinction, strongly hope for pumped-storage power generation.
At the event, Do-chang Oh, Mayor of Yeongyang-gun, said, “I am delighted to hold the 16th Yeongyang-gun Badminton Tournament, and I hope that you will do your best to attract the pumped-storage power plant, a long-awaited project of Yeongyang-gun, by gathering the passion of badminton clubs in Yeongyang-gun.”
