Uli Hoeneß Takes a Break from Bayern’s Asia Tour: Is Health the Reason?

Uli Hoeneß (71) does almost everything at Bayern again – but he does without this strenuous journey!

According to BILD information, the honorary president is not flying with the team on the Asia tour to Japan and Singapore (July 24 to August 3). Most recently, the supervisory board was present at almost no away game.

After the Bundesliga bankruptcy against Leipzig (1: 3) on May 20th and the apparently botched championship, his wife Susi is said to have taken him from Tegernsee to the hospital for a check-up in the evening. The trigger is said to have been mild heart problems. Hoeneß did not want to comment on SPORT BILD’s request.

The Bayern patron is currently suffering from bursitis on his right elbow. During a visit to Säbener Straße last Wednesday, when he observed Manuel Neuer (37/build-up after a broken tibia and fibula) during a one-on-one training session, Hoeneß wore a bandage on his right arm.

But even that doesn’t stop the ex-manager from working with full force on the future of his heart club. As SPORT BILD has revealed, many employees at FC Bayern have been amazed in the past few weeks and months at how active Hoeneß is again in all areas of the club apart from his function in the transfer task force.

A particularly bizarre example: Hoeneß is said to have repeatedly purchased items from the Bayern fan shop in order to test them personally or in a close family circle.

Everyday objects such as toothbrushes or toys – are the things “Bavarian-like” or rather China junk? It is said that he personally slept in Bayern bed linen from the fan shop for a long time and complained after a while that the bed linen frayed too quickly.
