Two Young Pitchers from Saint-Pascal Excel in Midget AAA Baseball Season

Two young pitchers from Saint-Pascal, playing for the Riverains du Bas-Saint-Laurent in the Midget AAA category, are having a remarkable season, being at the top of their team thanks to their prowess.

Indeed, Jimmy Daigle, 16, dominates his formation with 51 strikeouts and 45 innings pitched, while also performing very well at bat, which makes him a complete player. Isaac Hénault, 17, is first in earned run average with 2.172. The two local athletes are thus ranked among the best in the league.

From father to son

Isaac Hénault being the son of a baseball fan – in this case Louis-Martin Hénault, well known in the region for his various involvements – he fell into the pot of this sport popularized by the Americans at a young age.

His father also has a ball autographed by the Kid himself, Gary Carter, the former star receiver of the Montreal Expos who also played for the New York Mets, for which he produced nine important points during their conquest of the World Series in 1986.

Isaac, after his summer season with the Riverains du Bas-Saint-Laurent, will go to Cégep de Drummondville to play with the Voltigeurs in the baseball-studies program. Academically, he will take training in accounting and management before possibly starting his university career.

The young Hénault also wishes to be drafted in 2024 by a team from the Quebec Elite Junior Baseball League, or to be invited to one of the training camps of one of the 13 teams on the circuit.

Hénault considers himself happy with the support received from his father, who has always encouraged him in this area, but he also wanted to thank Vincent Michaud, head of the baseball sports-study program at Rivière-du-Loup high school, where he has evolved over the past few years. Mr. Michaud, it should be noted, is also responsible for the Riverains of Bas-Saint-Laurent.

“It is certain that my father strongly influenced me, but I also have a thought for Vincent Michaud who made us benefit on many occasions from his talent and his expertise, he who trained in the United States. . Just recently he wrote to congratulate us on our recent performances,” he told the Placoteuxabout one of the best baseball players in the history of Bas-Saint-Laurent.
