The three-year-old animal is said to have attacked Daylan G. on July 4th. The child was then taken to the hospital by plane, where he died from severe injuries to his upper body. People magazine quoted a statement from North Port Police Commissioner Todd Garrison: “Our hearts are broken for this young child and his family.” As a father and pet owner, I know this is one of the worst tragedies imaginable can.” Nothing was known about previous incidents with the dog.

A woman who knew Daylan G. from playing baseball in the North Port Area Little League told the broadcaster, “He was just a really sweet, happy boy. He loved playing baseball. He didn’t care , whether he was playing on the field with the big kids or the little ones.” The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
