The Warriors’ Surprising Offseason Strategy: Why Fans Might Be Disappointed

Jersey Swaps (DR) / NBA (DR)

For some time now, the Warriors have been fueling free agency rumors. While their roster is not yet complete, we expected logically that there would be arrivals in San Francisco. However, their strategy has just been revealed and may not please the fans…

For the moment, the offseason turns out to be rather calm in Golden State. If Chris Paul made his arrival in exchange for Jordan Poole, we did not really witness other extremely significant moves. For several years, the Warriors have accustomed us to wanting to keep their frame and not to be too restless in the market. In fact, the leaders have the firm intention to meet only the needs of the team.

When CP3 landed, many felt that the starting five would be far too small, and that the size deficit could therefore prove detrimental. As a result, the front office immediately reacted by formalizing the arrival of a professional interior. This news could have reassured observers a little, but other moves were called for in order to build a competitive group…

The Warriors’ amazing market strategy revealed!

Given that the market remains quite poor, the Warriors should adopt a patient and wait-and-see approach before coming forward to offer a guaranteed contract to the future fourteenth player in the squad, as indicated by some league sources. If they don’t find anything attractive enough before October, some franchise members say they’ll change tack.

They actually risk being quite comfortable with the fact of granting this fourteenth spot during a competition between candidates for non-guaranteed contracts during the training camp.

As surprising as it may seem, Californian leaders are not rushing for the ultimate “big fish” still available. Now is the time for analysis and reflection.

By adopting this tactic, the Warriors will probably not win the hearts of their fans. Already, seeing new faces is always a bit exciting, but in the case of Golden State, we are mainly talking about sporting needs. The workforce is indeed aging and still lacks height. We should therefore not be surprised to see the supporters get annoyed by this apathy on the summer market…

While we thought we understood that the Warriors were going to activate to find their replacement big man, things are finally on stand-by. Nothing is moving in Golden State and the fanbase could well show its fangs in the face of this delay…
