In a new TV documentary called “The Rise and Fall of Boris Becker”, the latter talks about her time with the tennis legend. “Bild” quotes Meyer-Wölden: “It was like a fairy tale and became a tornado.”
They were surprisingly engaged in 2008 after only a few weeks of relationship – three months later it was over. Becker then got back together with Lilly. After the separation from Alessandra, they are said to have “never spoken to each other again”.
At the time, however, the 40-year-old quickly realized that Boris was interested in her: “It started normally until I realized: Heaven, this man is after me.” She was enchanted, she says. Becker worked hard to impress the 15-year-old woman: “He was charismatic. For my birthday he got on the plane and flew over. He wasn’t even invited, suddenly showed up. I was enchanted that such a man cared so much about me. My friends said: give him a chance.”
“He’s arrogant, a liar”
Lilly Becker, on the other hand, took the engagement to Meyer-Wölden almost personally: “I’ve never felt so ugly, old and unwanted. This woman is younger, beautiful. That was devastating.” And adds: «I tried every alcohol, every drug on Ibiza. I couldn’t get drunk enough to forget this man.”
But the renewed relationship with Sharlely did not last either: they separated about five years ago and have been together since 2009.
Today the 47-year-old says about Becker: “He’s sweet, friendly, funny, but he’s also arrogant, he’s a liar. I was so deeply in love with him. In his charisma, his passion, his humor. The things that the public loves him for.”
