In thirty years, what a long way for the association of Compagnons d’Arc d’Ambarès-et-Lagrave, in the practice of archery, between evolution indoors and outdoors, in a rural setting. After the Covid period, the workforce is at the rendezvous of the dynamism of this section of AS Ambarès which brings together 103 licensees, including 38% of women and a third of young people from U11 to U21.

Labeled “Valid disabled for a shared practice” by the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee (CDOS), and “Hope” by the French Archery Federation (FFTA), the club has a framework made up of two qualified coaches, a federal supervisor, two official referees, and currently has two federal coaches, a federal supervisor and two referees in training.

12 new targets and 14 additional ones for 2024

Located avenue Paulin-de-Nol, next to the Simone-Veil educational center, the Jardin d’Arc has just acquired 12 new targets for an amount of 8,000 euros financed by 1,500 euros in subsidies and self-financing from the club. These investments should continue in 2024 with the implementation of 14 additional targets. A future dry shooting project, with the installation of a carport to shelter the archers, will allow a practice unrelated to the vagaries of the weather.

The club gathers 90% of followers for the shooting on English targets, and 10% practice shooting course/3D on dummy animal targets. Outdoor practice takes place from April to August, then the archers meet indoors from September to April.

The management team, chaired by Muriel Blin, is already preparing for the start of the school year, which will begin on September 5 for competitors and September 11 for beginners who can benefit from a bow loan the first year, with the possibility of a rental in the second year. Three price categories are offered: 160 euros (adults); 140 euros (young people) and 120 euros (U11).
