Stefan Johansson and his new Porsche 930 TAG Turbo with an engine from F1! He painted it himself

The company Lanzante built 11 pieces of the unique Porsche 930 TAG Turbo with an engine from Formula 1. One specimen belongs to a former participant of these prestigious races.

Stefan Johansson, a former Formula 1 driver, presented his new Porsche 930 TAG Turbo, which he had built by Lanzante. The resulting adjustment that is one of the eleven projects The Porsche 930 TAG Turbo, realized by Lanzante, was presented for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last weekend.

It slumbers under the hood of each of these unique cars 1.5 liter V6 TAG Turbo engine, which was produced by Porsche in the 1980s specifically for Formula 1 cars. It was with this drivetrain that Johansson drove the Austrian Grand Prix in the 1987 McLaren MP4/3 single-seater. He ended up in seventh place in this race.

In its day, this engine produced up to 750 horsepower, but for road use it was tuned to 503 horsepower, which is still a very respectable figure at a weight of 1,019 kilograms. Smaller turbos were installed, a different crankcase, and boost pressure was reduced by approximately 25% by the modifier. The power is then transmitted to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.

The special feature of this particular car is its color design, which was hand painted by Johansson himself. The red, green, blue and yellow stripe motif appears on the exterior and interior. The choice of colors was not accidental. The green recalls the shade of Johansson’s racing helmet, the blue and yellow refer to his Swedish origins, and the white and red mimic the color scheme of his McLaren MP4/3.
