Shocking! Another star kicked out of Wimbledon. Chance of a lifetime for Świątek Tennis

This year’s Wimbledon surprises. Before Friday, as many as eight out of 20 players in the WTA ranking dropped out of the game, including two from the TOP 10. We are talking about Coco Gauff (7th WTA) and Maria Sakkari (8th WTA), who ended their adventure with the tournament in the first round. Now Daria Kasatkina (10th WTA) joined their group quite unexpectedly.

See the video Iga Świątek amused by a question from a girl who trains tennis. “Oh my god, I’d like to know too”

Shocking. Daria Kasatkina is out of Wimbledon. Lost in the third round

The Russian was doing great on the London courts. She easily defeated Caroline Dolehide (100th WTA) 6:1, 6:4 and Jodie Burrage (100th WTA) 6:0, 6:2. In the third round, however, she encountered a wall in the form of Victoria Azarenka (20th WTA), which she failed to break down.

The match started better for Kasatkina. She broke her opponent in the third game. However, she bit herself at the earliest opportunity. The Belarusian got the wind in her sails. She won three times on the opponent’s serve, also holding her own serve and finally triumphed 6:2.

The second batch was more even, and the Russian clearly did not intend to let go. Only in the fourth game she lost her own application, thanks to which the Belarusian took the initiative, leading 3: 1. However, she did not enjoy the advantage for long, because after a while Kasatkina broke it, and then kept her own serve, leading to a 3-3 draw. After that, the game went game for game. The decisive moment of the clash took place in the last game. Then the Russian lost on her own serve, which meant the end of the set (4:6) and the end of the match.

Świątek highway to the Wimbledon final

Thus, Kasatkina is another player from the TOP 20 who said goodbye to Wimbledon. This is important news for Iga Świątek (1st WTA) – the Polish woman could face the Russian already at the quarter-final stage. Now, a competitor from the top 10 in the ranking can only meet in the semi-finals. Her rival may be Jessica Pegula (4th WTA) or Caroline Garcia (5th WTA).

To advance to this stage of the competition, the Polish woman must defeat more opponents. On Friday, July 7, she will fight for the fourth round with Petra Martić (29th WTA). The match will most likely not start until around 19:00. This is the result of prolonged clashes that will precede the meeting of the 22-year-old.
