Sheila Receives Legion of Honor: A Lifetime of Achievements in the Music Industry

The singer is very moved.

At 77, Sheila hasn’t experienced everything in the music industry yet, far from there. If she has 60 years of career behind her, she still had things to discover, such as the Francofolies de La Rochelle, a festival in which the singer played for the first time this year, in 2023. Very happy, she confided to the pressu that she had been waiting for several years to be programmed to play there. One more success for the singer, but that’s nothing compared to what was announced on July 14 by the Official Journal.

As every year, it is on this date that the names of those who will be decorated with the Legion of Honor are revealed, this honorary award created by Napoleon Bonaparte more than 200 years ago. And it is with great surprise and great pride that Sheila was able to discover her name among the list of 358 people who will also be decorated. At the microphone of TV5 Monde, the singer reacted by declaring that “My parents would be so proud of me, I think of them today.”

The one who sang “You friends, I will never forget you” and who was one of the icons of the yé-yé era in France, knew go through the ages with remarkable calm and unfailing serenity, while the media often relayed horrible rumors about her, and that she was scammed of a large part of her rights by one of her former producers. But 60 years later, she is still there and seems determined not to let go! Congratulations to her, we wish her the best.
