Schalke’s Intensive Plan for Bundesliga Return: Courage, Speed, and Pressing

Schalke’s plan for the Bundesliga return is in place!

At the training camp in Mittersill (Austria), coach Thomas Reis (49) is trying to get his squad up and running. On the first two days, he made Simon Terodde (35) and Co. sweat a lot more than ex-coach Frank Kramer (51) did last year. Reis wants to use this to lay the foundations for his intensive style of play.

Courage, speed and pressing – that’s Schalke’s promotion tactic!

The fans of royal blue can be happy: Schalke want to spoil them with attractive power football again in the future. That means: If the opponent has the ball, the Reis men should attack courageously and offensively, with a great risk of pressing.

If such an opponent’s mistake can be provoked, the disorder should be exploited by a pass into the last third.

Gerald Asamoah (44) explains: “The plan is primarily for interface passes and deep runs. In the test against Bocholt (2: 2 / d. Red.) You saw that we have to do even better.”

Schalke is still looking for a fast central defender!

Should the opponent be able to break away from the Schalke pressing, he will of course have space to counterattack. At best, the central defender who is still being sought should therefore bring a lot of speed with him in order to be able to win the threatening running duels.

Sports director André Hechelmann (38) on the search: “Tall, fast, strong in one-on-one combat is a basic profile that would do us good. ”

Marcin Kaminski (31), currently set as central defender: “We will be the team in the second division with more possession of the ball, so we need counterattack protection now. Last year we defended even more and tried to play on the counterattack ourselves.”

► Tactically, Schalke will continue to rely primarily on the 4-3-3 system according to BILD information. A dual leadership – as recently with Terodde and Sebastian Polter (32) – is only considered situationally.
