Saint-Denis Réunion Open: International Badminton Competition Qualifying for Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games

The Réunion badminton league presented this Friday, July 21 the organization of the second edition of the Saint-Denis Réunion Open, an international competition registered on the world calendar of the Badminton World Federation, which counts for the qualification of the athletes for the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Paris 2024. This event is supported by the Department, as recalled by Brigitte Adame, departmental adviser, during the presentation to the press of the event. A grant of €7,000 was granted by the Collectivité to the Ligue nouvelle du badminton Réunion for the organization of this meeting, which is also a dress rehearsal for the badminton players who will represent our island, in a few weeks, at the Island Games.

The Department, alongside CROS, clubs, leagues and committees, is determined to give Reunionese sport the means to fulfill its ambitions. Like this event that we are going to host, our island deserves the recognition of its talents which shine at the highest level.” declared Brigitte Adame in particular. The event will take place from July 26 to 30, 2023 on the Champ-Fleuri site. Christophe Chenut, president of the League, underlined that the International Open will allow Reunionese athletes to confront the best in the world, with some players from the World Top 30 among the 150 registered.
