René Meersman (86) and Elisabeth De Ryck (81) were married in 1963 in Basel. This year they celebrate their sixtieth wedding anniversary. For their diamond wedding, Mayor Hugo Maes (CD&V) and Alderman Debby Vermeiren (CD&V) paid tribute to them.
René was a construction worker in his career and Elisabeth was a servant. The couple has five children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. René is a real nature lover and likes to fill his time with gardening and badminton. Elisabeth likes to go hiking and cycling.
