Remembering Renée-Pierre Branche: A Dedicated Teacher and Beloved Figure in Briord

She had been a teacher in Lompnaz, then in Briord for many years.

It is with great emotion that the inhabitants of Briord and the entire southern Bugey sector learned of the sudden disappearance of Renée-Pierre Branche on June 15. Retiring at the end of the 2022 school year, this dynamic teacher, who was about to celebrate her 66th birthday, left a lasting memory with her students and all the people who knew her.

More than forty years of good and loyal service

After studying at the Montalieu school, then at the Montagnieu college, Renée-Pierre Branche entered the École Normale in 1984. Following a competition, she obtained the post of teacher at the Lompnaz school in 1986. She remained there until 1993, the year of her arrival in Briord. She first taught classes at three different levels before being entrusted with the CE1 class. She taught at the Briord school for twenty-nine years.

Renée-Pierre Branche’s interests and activities went far beyond her work in her class. Since 2017, she has regularly participated in numerous poetry competitions with her students, events at the end of which she has won numerous prizes with her class, particularly in Isère and Savoie. “At school, it’s not just maths and French, she used to say. Children have to be introduced to other activities such as gardening or poetry.”

“A Great Void”

Renée-Pierre Branche was greatly appreciated by her students and colleagues. “His retirement had left a great void, and today, the teaching team is plunged into great sadness”, testifies Christelle Rigot, director of the Briord school. La Voix de l’Ain sends its sincere condolences to his son Jean-Pierre, to his sister Marie-Paule, as well as to all his relatives.
