PSG: “If we take stock, the value for money is not satisfactory”, former Bayern tackle Hernandez

After four seasons at Bayern Munich, Lucas Hernandez has officially been a PSG player since Sunday. The left side of the France team, 27, has signed up in the capital until 2028 for an amount of around 40 million euros excluding bonuses. And the least we can say is that the departure of the Habs did not traumatize the Bavarians.

“If we take stock, the value for money is not satisfactory” thus launched on Sky Sport Lothar Matthäus, former midfielder of Bayern and Ballon d’or (in the jersey of Inter) in 1990. The Marseillais certainly won four national titles and a Champions League (on the bench against… PSG in 2020) but he was also regularly injured, missing a total of 65 games, which prevented him from becoming an essential starter for the European club the most successful of the 21st century.

Theo’s brother had even suffered a rupture of the inner cruciate ligament of the right knee at the start of the last World Cup in Qatar. He had therefore not worn the Bavarian tunic since October 2022… Before opening a new chapter in his career, the former Atlético defender posted a farewell message on Instagram to the attention of fans and of his former German teammates.

“Today it is with a heavy heart that I bid farewell to the club,” he wrote. I would like to thank you for your unwavering support during my stay here. The moments shared will remain forever in my memory as well as the trophies won, especially the Champions League which I have always dreamed of. After careful consideration, I decided to take up new challenges. (…) This club made me grow as a player and as a person. I am proud to have worn the jersey of one of the most prestigious clubs in the world. Finally, I ask you to respect my decision, even if goodbyes are always difficult. »

Mehmet Scholl, another Munich legend (between 1992 and 2007), wasted no time in taking over the Habs on the fly. The ex-attacking midfielder, who has become a TV consultant, does not believe in the sincerity of the club’s now ex-No. 21, who initially left to extend across the Rhine. “I don’t believe a word you say, hi,” the German replied curtly…

The arrival of Hernandez also awoke some tensions against the backdrop of the Paris-Marseille rivalry. “I’m going to be all the way here, I’m always going to wet the jersey. I want to go back to this family, he said. It’s never easy, I’ve been living with this injury for seven months now. But you can rest easy, I’m at 200% right now, I can’t wait to get back with the team and be full from day one. My knee, it’s spot on. Frankly, everything is going very, very well. »
