PRACTICE MATCHES. Second consecutive defeat for Standard, Gent, Westerlo and OHL do win

Second consecutive defeat for Standard

On a training camp in the Netherlands, the Rouches saw a 1-3 lead against AZ turned into a 4-3 defeat at half-time. In a game of 105 minutes (1×45 and 2×30), Standard put in a strong first hour. Starring Noah Ohio. The Dutch striker opened the score from the spot on fifteen minutes, then aimed a ball at the post and then hit twice more to complete his hat-trick. A damper on the festivities: Ohio remained in the locker room after the break with a problem with his knee.

Carl Hoefkens could also count on his internationals for the first time against AZ. Australian Aiden O’Neill made his debut, Arnaud Bodart played his first minutes of the season and saved a penalty before half-time.

During and after the break, Hoefkens changed his entire team and a youthful Standard went down after all. Goals from Buurmeester, Koopmeiners and Poku gave AZ the victory. In the final phase, Emond missed a great opportunity to equalize.

Club Brugge loses to Feyenoord

Club Brugge had to lose out against Feyenoord, the Dutch champions, on Wednesday during a training period. Coach Ronny Deila still had to do without internationals and saw his team fall 2-0 before the break. A defeat was superfluous, because Vermant and Sandra both missed a penalty.

Westerlo records first victory after strong practice pot against Heerenveen

A day after the defeat against PEC Zwolle (3-1), Westerlo won its first exhibition match against Heerenveen. Vaesen and Van den Keybus made it 0-2 after the break.

Not 90 but 120 minutes of football on the field of Wenum Wiesel Noord Apeldoorn. Ideal to give all players some extra game minutes at the end of the training period.

Westerlo had the best chances in a balanced first half. A goal from Daci was disallowed for offside, a shot from Fixelles was neutralized by Noppert. The Dutch World Cup player had already kept Daci from the opening goal in the opening phase.

Heerenveen, number eight in the Eredivisie, played well, but Westerlo kept it firmly locked in the back. Only once did you pay attention. After a bad football from Bolat, the leather ended up in Frisian feet. The Turkish goalkeeper saw the ball fly high over the goal.

After the break, Westerlo took control of the game. An eager Matsuo was early in the 0-1, but the shot from the Japanese flew wide. Just like against PEC Zwolle, Yow applied with great enthusiasm and successful actions for more playing minutes in the competition. However, the American was not awarded a goal this time. He also decided after a clever individual action – cutting player with a heel and at speed towards goal – next.

A goal for Westerlo did come. After good preparatory work by Rommens, Vaesen nodded the 0-1 against the ropes. In the final phase, Van den Keybus doubled the score after a nice rush and one-two with Muric. In the turn he hit the 0-2 final score against the ropes.

Remarkable: Westerlo ended the game with six players aged twenty or younger. However, the first Kempen victory in the preparation was never in danger.

Efficient Buffalos beat underaged Utrecht

AA Gent is on an internship in the Netherlands and played an exhibition game against FC Utrecht on Wednesday evening. Not yet a newcomer Kandouss at the Buffalos – the Moroccan international was already watching closely – but Hjulsager who quickly opened the score with a fine shot in the short corner.

Ghent will be playing in the second preliminary round of the Conference League within two weeks and was clearly further ahead in its preparation than the Dutch premier league club, which was only able to make a fist before the break. Goal chances remained scarce on both sides in the first half, however.

On the other hand, Tissoudali and Castro-Montes were also missing from the Buffalos, who doubled their lead shortly after the break via Fofana, who gracefully punished a mistake in the Dutch defense with a lob (0-2).
