personal bests for Samba-Mayela and Bapté in 100m hurdles

Cyréna Samba-Mayela won by one hundredth ahead of Laeticia Bapté in the final of the French 100m hurdles championships.

Cyréna Samba-Mayela was crowned French champion in the 100m hurdles on Sunday in Albi by improving her personal best, increased to 12 sec 68 (wind +0.5 m / s), like her runner-up Laeticia Bapté, whom she beat of a breath (12 sec 69).

The two women, who both previously had a better mark at 12 sec 73, had already achieved the minimums for the world championships in Budapest (August 19-27).

«I’ve been waiting for this race for a while. I knew that Laeticia (Baptized) had raised her level and I really like the competitionsaid Samba-Mayela after delivering Europe’s third-best performance of the season.

«I was looking forward to running with her and finally breaking the 12 sec 70 mark. I am very happy to have been able to combine title and personal bestAdded the 2022 indoor world champion in the 60m hurdles.

Awa Sene took third place in 13 sec 11 in a particularly dense race, like the men’s 110m hurdles the day before, won by Sasha Zhoya.

«I know I gave it my all so I’m proud of myself, reacted Bapté. To win, I still need races of this level. Cyréna’s presence helps me a lot to improve. At the Worlds, the objective will be to go even faster. I will give everything to reach the final».
