IN IMAGES, IN PICTURES. This is one of the highlights and expected moments of the July 14 parade. The Patrouille de France, 70 years old this year, once again colored the sky blue white red.

She presented herself in “Big Nine” training, that of the big days, exclusively reserved for July 14th. The Patrouille de France and its nine Alpha Jets opened the air parade on Friday morning around 10:30 a.m. For the 40th consecutive year, it colored the Parisian sky with blue, white and red. A spectacle observed – and immortalized – in several places in the capital and its surroundings.

On the ground, in the presidential gallery, there is one who particularly appreciated the show. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, guest of honor on July 14, warmly applauded the passage of planes with tricolor smoke.

2023 is a special year for the Patrouille de France as it celebrates its 70th anniversary. It was a radio journalist who baptized it thus, one day in 1953, dazzled by its antics above Algiers. Since then, aircraft models have changed, but not the essential: a certain musketeer spirit, made of audacity and camaraderie. The fighter pilots, recruited from among the elite, only spend a few years together, but they leave them with a scent of adrenaline that will follow them for a long time.

In their base, in Salon-de-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône), they welcomed this year a new godmother: the journalist Anne-Claire Coudray. She is the second woman to take on this role after Carla Bruni. The boss of the JT of TF1 walks in the footsteps of other famous sponsors including Alain Delon – the very first -, Michel Drucker, Prince Albert of Monaco or even Jean-Claude Killy.
