Nine medals for young track and field athletes at the Latvian Championship » irLiepāja

From June 29 to 30 in Jelgava, at the Jānis Lūš Stadium of the Zemgale Olympic Center, the Latvian championship for U-14 and U-16 age groups in athletics took place, in which athletes from the Liepāja Sports Games School competed, winning nine prize-winning places, informs the school’s athletics coach Mārtiņš Rūgums.

During two days, the best track and field athletes in two age groups were determined. Girls and boys of the U-14 group competed in 26 disciplines, and U-16 – in 38 disciplines.

Prize-winning places in the Latvian championship were won by:
1st place
• Keita Saučukas 100m/b with a result of 14.83 s (coach Mārtiņš Rūgums);
• In the 100+200+300+400 m relay, the 1st team of the Liepaja Sports Games School (Daniela Krista Jurevičus, Anna Vecbaštika, Leonora Kāposta, Keita Saučukas) with a result of 2:24.71;

2nd place
• Anna Vecbaštika in the 200 m race with a result of 25.87 s (coach M. Rūgums);
• Amanda Zvagule in the pole vault with a result of 2.55 m (coach M. Rūgums);
• Ance Miltiņa shot put with a result of 11.72 m (coach M. Rūgums);
• Anna Vecbaštika 400 m with a result of 1:00.09 (coach M. Rūgums)
• Ance Miltiņa in long jump 5.13 m (coach M. Rūgums);

3rd place
• Leonora Kaposta in the 800m race with a result of 2:25.43 (coach Daiga Stumbre);
• Ance Miltiņa 80 m/b with a result of 12.50 s (coach M. Rūgums).
