New York Liberty Dominates Indiana Fever with Historic First Quarter in WNBA Matchup

WNBA – With notably 12 points from Marine Johannès, the New York Liberty easily dominated the Indiana Fever (101-83). Thanks to a historic first quarter, with 44 points scored!

Although it had just ended a series of eight straight losses, the Indiana Fever (6-16) quickly exploded (101-83) against the New York Liberty (16-5), the second best team in the WNBA behind the Las Vegas Aces.

It’s because the New Yorkers broke a quarter-time record, scoring 44 points in the first quarter!

By making 15 of their first 18 baskets, including 6 3-point shots, the Liberty was at +27 (44-17) after 10 minutes, and was therefore able to manage the rest of the game, failing to break the record in a half.

WNBA 500 point bar exceeded

Lacking rhythm since finding the Liberty in difficult circumstances, Marine Johannès had a very good match with 12 points at 4/7 from afar, plus 4 assists and 3 interceptions (but 4 ball losses).

What will help her to definitively launch her season, when she only has 40% shooting success this year, including 36% from distance and 67% in free throws, where she posted 46% last season, being the most skilful player behind the 3-point line (44%) among those who took at least 100 outside shots during the campaign?

With her 12 points against the Fever, Marine Johannès also passes the bar of 500 points scored in the WNBA.
