National Men’s Basketball Team Makes Debut at Central American and Caribbean Games

The National Men’s Basketball Team debuts tonight at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023 against the Mexican team at 7:00 p.m.

The quintet was made up of André Curbelo, Jorge Pacheco, Gabriel Belardo, Jase Febres, Rafael Pinzón, Ángel Matías, Dimencio Vaughn, Alexander Kappos, Christian Negrón, Jordan Cintrón, Arnaldo Toro and Wilfredo Rodríguez.

In the coaching staff, Christian Dalmau made his debut as national leader in the company of assistant Jorge Rincón.

“We are ready for our first match against Mexico. We have worked focused understanding the commitment we have here in San Salvador. We are already complete as a team to give everything for Puerto Rico,” Dalmau said in a written communication.

The game schedule will continue tomorrow, Sunday, against Cuba at 7:00 pm and on Monday the 3rd against the host team of El Salvador at 9:30 pm The men’s basketball tournament will culminate on July 5 and all matches will be will be held at the José Adolfo Pineda National Gymnasium in the capital San Salvador of El Salvador.

Puerto Rico shares space in Group B with Mexico, Cuba and El Salvador and they will seek to defend the gold medal they won in the last Central American tournament in Barranquilla 2018.

Group A is led by the Virgin Islands, Nicaragua, the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic.
