MLB Announces Opening Day Schedule for 2024 Season, Including Interleague Matchup Between Cubs and Rangers

NEW YORK.- The Chicago Cubs will visit the Texas Rangers in the only interleague series on Major League Baseball’s traditional opening day on March 28, kicking off the second season with a balanced schedule.

Major League Baseball announced its 2024 schedule on Thursday, seven weeks before the 2023 announcement.

All the teams will play on March 28, a week after the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres meet in a two-game series in Seoul on March 20-21. It will be the first time MLB has staged regular season games in South Korea.

The highlights of the opening day of the American League include the visit of the New York Yankees to Houston and the visit of the Los Angeles Angels to Baltimore. In addition, the Chicago White Sox will host Detroit, Kansas City will host Minnesota; Oakland to Cleveland, Seattle to Boston, and Tampa Bay to Toronto.

The A’s could play their last season opener in Oakland. Their lease on the Coliseum is set to expire at the end of the 2024 season, and the team is confident of moving to a new stadium in Las Vegas.

In the National League, Colorado will visit Arizona, Washington will visit Cincinnati, St. Louis will visit the Dodgers, Pittsburgh will visit Miami, Milwaukee will visit the New York Mets, Atlanta will visit Philadelphia and San Francisco will visit San Diego.

This season was the first since 1968 that each team played on the first day. The opening date of next March 28 will emulate 2019 as the earliest without taking into account the games abroad.

Games outside the United States and Canada include the series between Houston and Colorado on April 27-28 in Mexico City and the Mets and Phillies on June 8-9 in London.

Additionally, the Cardinals and Giants will meet at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama on June 20 in a tribute to the Negro Leagues and Willie Mays.

The All-Star Game will be on July 16 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The regular season will end on September 29.

Houston will visit Wrigley Field for the first time since 2013 (April 23-25), the Dodgers will be at Yankee Stadium for the first time since 2016 (June 7-9) and San Diego will go to Fenway Park for the first time since 2013 (June 28). -June 30th).
