(LaPresse) 17 years have passed since 9 July 2006, a historic day for all Italians given that on that date the national team won its fourth World Cup. A team, the one led by Lippi, full of champions who continue to celebrate that success after many years between social posts and TV interviews. Among them is obviously Francesco Totti, number ten of the blue expedition, who chose an iconic photo to commemorate that success. Pupone posted on Instagram the image of the celebration after the penalty scored against Australia which earned Italy qualification for the quarter-finals. In that shot, Totti is immortalized with his thumb in his mouth, mimicking a pacifier, a gesture he made after each goal and which he dedicated to his ex Ilary Blasi. It was he, in fact, in a post on Facebook from 2017, who revealed that that celebration was designed in honor of Ilary. “Perhaps not everyone knows that… the gesture of the pacifier is not dedicated to my children, but to Ilary who does it every time she concentrates! It is a special dedication to the woman I love and to the mother of my children”, reads the post of the former Roma captain. (LaPresse)
