“Unfortunately situations like this happen too often. It was the last thing Mason deserved after being so friendly with everyone he has met since joining United,” a Manchester United statement read.

“Professional autograph hunters regularly pressure United players to sign large sums of money which they then sell for hundreds of pounds.”

“This has become a daily occurrence and a major problem at Carrington. These organized groups will block players’ cars and harass them on their way to and from work. It is becoming very dangerous and you should be concerned that this is just a problem. time before someone was injured,” United said in a statement.

“It also means that young fans, who only want to interact with their heroes, are often missing opportunities because players can’t stop for photos with them without engaging with the groups.”

“This is really frustrating for everyone, security staff are always in dialogue with the players to find ways to stop this problem. Actions will definitely be taken if this continues,” concluded Man Utd’s statement.
