What a performance by Lukas Neumayer at the start of the qualification for the Generali Open 2023: The young Austrian didn’t give a damn against Federico Coria, who was in first place, and dominated the Argentine from the baseline almost at will. Only at the end did the local hero show nerves, when the score was 5-0 in the second set, he missed two match balls as a setback. A few moments later, however, they managed to get through with the third chance.
In the qualifying final, the task could become even more difficult: especially if Hamad Medjedovic should prevail against Lucas Miedler. Medjedovic has already won twice against Dominic Thiem this year.
In the first game of the day, Dennis Novak held his own against youngster Joel Schwärzler 6: 4 and 6: 1. Novak meets Thiago Monteiro from Brazil tomorrow Sunday.
