LaLiga EA Sports | The Getafe-Barça of the first day of LaLiga will finally be played with the public

The draw for the first day in LaLiga had provided for him Getafe a confrontation against FC Barcelona. Height debut to cash in the Coliseum. A couple of weeks later, the Azulona entity received a communication for which it was sanctioned due to the incidents that occurred on June 24, 2017 in the ‘playoffs’ for promotion to Primera.

Smoke canisters and field invasion

Finally, Getafe will be able to play in front of their fans at the start of the 2023/2024 season. The Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the Supreme Court has estimated the nullity incident raised by the Madrid club against the judgment of said chamberof June 29, which confirmed the closure sanction for a Coliseum match.

This was ruled in its day by the Royal Spanish Football Federation after in that match the local fans launched smoke canisters“in addition to making preparations to invade the field of play at the end of the match”. The match ended 3-1 and marked the promotion of Bordalás’ men, who returned to the Azulona entity last year.

Getafe did appear in the cause

According to the Supreme Court ruling, to which this newspaper has had access, Getafe had been summoned, but had not appeared at the proceedings. The club, after knowing the sentence, filed an annulment motion alleging that he did appear, on April 21, 2020. The high court found that the entity was right, appearing in due time and form, therefore the sanction is rendered ineffective.

Getafe has a period of 30 days to present a written opposition to the filing of the appeal of the State Attorney’s Office. “Until a new sentence is handed down that puts an end to the procedure in one sense or another, it will be possible to attend the celebration of the matches that are played in the Coliseum“, has indicated Getafe on its website.

Insults and police intervention

In this legal journey, it should be remembered that, in the annulled ruling, the Supreme Court endorsed the sanction imposed that was to be effective in the 2018/2019 season and that entailed two fines of 4,000 and 3,001 euros by the Government Delegation in Madrid.

In addition, the High Court referred to the songs that took place in the north end of the Coliseum, “where in a choral and coordinated way” they were sung insults against local player Sergio Mora first and towards Getafe later.

The invasion of the field caused a confrontation between both fans and forced the police to intervene. Due to these events, the RFEF Competition Committee sanctioned Getafe with the closure of the stadium and dismissed the proceedings regarding Tenerife.
