Judo Perú Hosts International Judo Tournament with Over 500 Participants from 20 Countries

More than 500 judokas from 20 countries will be present at the Cadet-Junior Pan American Cup, the U-13 and U-15 Pan American Cup, as well as the Lima 2023 Pan American Open from July 14 to 23 at Sports Center 3 of the Videna High Performance Center , administered by Legado, and which has the support of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD).

The national judo team, which achieved an outstanding performance in the 2023 Guayaquil Pan American Open by obtaining three medals (two silver and one bronze), is getting ready to face new challenges. Our judokas will seek to continue adding points for their qualification to the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games and the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Among our most prominent representatives are Brillith Gamarra 48kg, Xsara Morales 70kg, Camila Figueroa 78kg and Yuliana Bolívar +78kg in women; Juan Postigos 66kg, Alonso Wong 73kg, Yuta Galarreta 90kg and Daryl Yamamoto 100kg in the men’s category. This tournament will mark the return of Yuliana Bolívar to the tatami, after overcoming an injury, in search of her classification.

“It is a pride and happiness for us to host an international event again. We work to keep up with the organization, while our judokas go out to compete as equals against any opponent in the world. We have made judo a family. We have planted the new generation of judo and we continue to fight so that our projects do not stop and so that the athlete is a professional”, said the president of the Peruvian Sports Federation, María Martínez.

On Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th the event will break fire with the individual and team Pan American Sub-13. On Sunday the 16th, the Under-15s will take part in the team category, but the Pan American Mini Prix will also take place.

The event, one of the flagships in the work that Judo Peru develops and promotes, for children from 3 years old will take place for the first time at the Pan-American level. We will see the future elite judokas who will represent our country in action.

On Wednesday the 19th it will be the turn for the Cadet Pan American Cup and on Thursday the 20th for the Junior Pan American Cup. While the greatest will fight to get on the podium on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 at the Pan American Open.

The Judo festival will continue from July 24 to 28 in our country, as it is the scene of the Panam Sport camp with the best exponents of judo in America. And on July 24, live the seminar “Gender equality is a path we build together!”, which will take place in the auditorium of the Peruvian Olympic Committee.
