After a year of hard training, the time had come: The Judo course of the district sports association (KSB) Gifhornwho was funded by the state of Lower Saxony, graduated from the Boxmühle his first belt test. The excitement was great, parents and siblings were present in the dojo.

After the so-called “greetings” and a short warm-up, the eleven kids started. They first showed the three different judo falling techniques. The forwards and sideways showed the young athletes to both their right and left sides. “The falling techniques are very important in judo so that the children don’t injure themselves when they throw each other onto the mat,” emphasized Svenja Liermann from KSBwho acted as a trainer.

The judokas presented their learned techniques

Afterwards, each judoka presented the two throwing techniques he had learned while moving. “These are very demanding for the children, but also effective later in their first competition,” emphasized Liermann. Now it was the turn of the ground fight. “The partner had to be turned onto his back and held from two different positions. The hold is only valid if the opponent is lying on their back and is being held from above,” explained trainer Liermann.

This was followed by a technique with which the kids should free themselves from the supine position and fix the opponent in a hold. The test was concluded with the judo values. “These include, for example, respect, seriousness, appreciation and helpfulness. That is also what characterizes this sport,” Liermann made clear.

All examinees were successful

at eleven boys passed the exam successfully, this also applied to three latecomers who were unable to attend the original date. They all got their white and yellow belt, which enables them to take part in competitions. Liermann, who with Jan Sievers formed a trainer duo, summarized: “We are very satisfied with the performance of the candidates.” r.
