He trained as a player and coach at the Lagunas 3 public school quarry and after ABO Ourense, before being signed to the Ourense Basketball Club.
Ocampo is a coach with extensive experience, he started in Spanish basketball at the age of 17, where he has worked in clubs such as Murcia, Estudiantes, Girona, Zaragoza and Joventut de Badalona. He has also trained in Germany, with the Frankfurt Skyliners. He has won several European titles with the lower categories of the Spanish basketball team.
Ocampo is a coach known for his attacking style of play and his ability to develop young players. It is expected that it will help the Czech Republic to return to being one of the powers of European basketball.
Ocampo has committed to the Czech team for two seasons, with an option for a third. His first game will be on August 24 in a friendly against France.
