Jordan Hendeson could follow Steven Gerrard to Saudi Arabia

The current Liverpool captain could join the legendary former Reds midfielder, who has become a coach at Al Ettifaq.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is about to leave the Reds to join his former partner Steven Gerrard now at Saudi club Al Ettifaq, an agreement having been reached between the two parties, assures the site on Wednesday The Athletic.

After Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Ngolo Kanté in particular, the midfielder could join the cohort of European players who have already yielded to the Saudi sirens.

If this transfer is confirmed in the club based in Dammam, Henderson would work under the authority of his compatriot and former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard, appointed coach of Al Ettifaq in early July.

Henderson, 33, has been at Liverpool since 2011 and became captain in 2015. He was crowned English champion in 2020 and won the Champions League in 2019 with the Reds.

According to The Athletic, the Englishman was offered a salary of more than 900,000 dollars a week and Liverpool would receive nearly 16 million euros for this transfer.
