Japanese Duo of Brock Nutrite Lambert Shines in LBMQ Baseball

BASEBALL. The Japanese duo of Brock Nutrite Lambert continues to pile up honors.

The Major League Baseball of Quebec (LBMQ) awarded the first star of the last week to Ryo Kohigashi. For his part, Chikara Igami inherited the third star. This is already the second time this season that the two Brock stars have been rewarded in this way.

Over the past week, Ryo Kohigashi has maintained a 0.95 earned run average. In seven and a third innings of work, the 25-year-old southpaw allowed just one run on four hits and no walks. In a 3-1 victory over the Baseball Academy of Canada (ABC) on Sunday at the Jacques-Desautels stadium, the impact ball specialist retired 13 batters.

In 27 and a third innings since he landed in Drummondville, Ryo Kohigoshi (3-1) leads the LBMQ with 56 strikeouts.

For her part, Chikara Igami shone in a 4-1 win against the Blue Sox last Friday night in Thetford Mines. In six and two-thirds innings, the 27-year-old right-hander allowed just one run on two hits and four walks.

Chikara Igami (2-0) has lowered his ERA to 1.11 since the start of the regular season. The opponent hits for an average .173 against the Brock’s star pitcher.

The second star of the week was awarded to Kevin Tremblay, of the Pirates of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Author of two home runs, the 33-year-old veteran drove in six runs in addition to crossing home plate three times.

The Brock (6-5) will host the Sherbrooke Expos (4-7), Wednesday night, at the Jacques-Desautels stadium. The first throw is scheduled for 8 p.m.
