James Rodriguez’s Journey Across Continents: From Europe to South America

Once around the world…

Ex-Bayern star James Rodriguez (32) has already played for nine clubs in his career. Including some of the best addresses in Europe (Porto, Monaco, Real, Bayern). After becoming top scorer at the 2014 World Cup, Real Madrid paid him €75m. Now the Colombian is probably going back to South America – for free.

The “Sun” reports that the midfielder is about to sign with the traditional club FC Sao Paulo (six championship titles). He is even said to be in Brazil. The sheet refers to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano (30).

Goodbye is fun! Rafinha (38), a former Bayern star, is already under contract in Sao Paulo. In addition, Alexandre Pato (33) is another former top star in the squad.

The club are currently sixth in the Campeonato Brasiliero Serie A, but are still close to places two to four, which entitle them to participate in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores (South American Champions League).

The last few years have been pretty mixed for the retired world star. Since the end of his contract with Real Madrid in the summer of 2020, he has failed at three clubs: in England at Everton, in Qatar at Al-Rayyan SC and most recently at Olympiacos Piraeus, where his contract has already expired was terminated for seven months.

James has been out of contract since April. Now the new beginning. Perhaps at Sao Paulo, the 10th club of his professional career, he can add a few more trophies to his impressive title tally.

With Real Madrid he won the Champions League twice alone (2016, 2017). At Bayern it was enough for two championship titles (2018, 2019) and winning the DFB Cup (2019).
