Holm Westend 69ers Take Lead in District League from SG Baltics/Lizards

The second team, the Holm Westend 69’ers, took over the lead in the district league from the SG Baltics/Lizards, who slipped down to third place as a result of the defeats.

Holm – Last Sunday, SG Flensburg/Lübeck traveled to Holm as table leaders to play two top games against the second-placed Westend 69ers. In the sweltering heat, the guests quickly managed to get points on the scoreboard, but due to a good performance by Holmer’s pitcher, the lead remained moderate. On the other hand, the SG struggled on defense and had two long innings in which the Holmer managed to score a few runs. In addition to the solid performance of Holmer, there were always careless mistakes at SG Flensburg/Lübeck, which ended up being very expensive. The Holm Westend 69ers’ lead of 10:2 was reduced to 10:7 by the SG with their own momentum of five runs. However, SG Flensburg/Lübeck failed to catch up and the hosts won 11:7.

SG Flensburg/Lübeck has no chance

The injuries from the first game were noticeable for both teams. At over 30 degrees with no prospect of shade, the break wasn’t really a recovery for either team. Nevertheless, SG Flensburg/Lübeck got into the game much better after the break. A highlight was set by Lübeck’s Jordan Bloomer, who hit a home run. He secured a 4:0 lead for the SG, which gave hope for a revenge on the part of the SG. However, the tide turned as time went on and the Holm Westend 69ers wanted to take the opportunity to take the lead in the table. What initially looked like a fight for victory became very clear in the end. The SG Flensburg/Lübeck was visibly defeated, which ended in a 14:5 for the Holm Westend 69ers. (avo)
