Germering – The sports awards ceremony took place again this year in a relaxed atmosphere with a sporty character. What turned out to be an excellent alternative to stuffy interiors two years ago due to the corona virus was continued in 2023. This time it was the turn of the SC Unterpfaffenhofen Germering stadium.

29 individual athletes, two teams and nine officials were honored for their sporting achievements in 2021 and 2022 and for their many years of commitment to sports clubs. Even if he himself isn’t a sports star, according to Lord Mayor Andreas Haas, “not an hour is wasted that you spend doing sport.” I take my hat off to that,” said Haas. And when it comes to the sports facilities, new school gymnasiums or the renovation of the indoor pool, the mayor is always in dialogue with the citizens in order to clarify financial bottlenecks and delays. In his speech, sports consultant Christian Gruber emphasized that the sports clubs are there for everyone. No matter whether young or old, rehabilitation or disabled sports – everyone is picked up.

The first medal of the evening was awarded to a team with six legs. After a short phase of confusion, it was clear that Eva Beschoner and her king poodle Loui were meant. In 2022 they became runners-up in the Bavarian and Upper Bavarian championships for tournament dog sports in four-fight 2. In addition to the medal made of glass and food for the nerves of the mistress, dog biscuits for Loui could not be missing.

Regardless of whether they are Bavarian champions, in swimming, judo or dancing – as diverse as the athletes and their respective sports are, in the end they all have one thing in common: the love of movement and the motivation to compete again and again.

With Lena Dürr, an Olympic champion was also among the honorees. In 2022 it was silver in the ski team competition in Beijing. Rhythmic gymnastics were among the team winners twice. The winners took home prize money of 80 euros for the team fund. In their laudations, Haas and Gruber emphasized the number of hours the award-winning officials spent as trainers, press spokespersons or secretaries for their clubs. While it was around 150 hours for Heidi Kruse and Christel Limmer, for Josef Doll it could only be described as “no longer measurable”. As a thank you, the officials received a writing set made of rosewood.

The commitment of the athletes was honored not only by the representatives of the city of Germering, but also by the district chairman of the BLSV sports district of Upper Bavaria, Steffen Enzmann.
