Football: “For the good of PSG, I think the time has come for Mbappé to leave”, says Leonardo

Definitely; Since his departure from PSG in May 2022, the rare public outings of Leonardo, the former sporting director of the capital club, are not lacking in spice. After having scratched the direction at the beginning of June in an interview with Corriere della Serra – “With me it is difficult, without me it is impossible” – the Brazilian, this time targeted Kylian Mbappé.

Contacted by The teamLeonardo, who currently lives in Milan, said: “For the good of PSG, I think the time has come for Mbappé to leave, no matter how”.

The former manager insists on the striker currently at the heart of the news about his future: “Paris-Saint-Germain existed before Kylian Mbappé and it will exist after him. He has been in Paris for six years and, in these six seasons, five different clubs have won the Champions League, none of which had Mbappé in their ranks. This means that it is entirely possible to win this competition without him”.

Leonardo continues, still in L’Equipe: “With his behavior over the past two years, Mbappé shows that he is not yet a player capable of really guiding a team. He is a great player, not a leader. He is a great scorer, not a creative. It’s hard to build a team around him.”

Kylian Mbappé has just spent three days in Cameroon in his father’s country. On July 5, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the Parisian president, gave him an ultimatum: “If he does not want to sign within two weeks, the door is open”.

PSG is launching the preparation for the next season this Monday, July 10 on the side of the new Poissy Campus where a large part of the players will first undergo medical tests before resuming training this Tuesday under the orders of the new coach Luis Enrique. Kylian Mbappé, like the other internationals, is expected on July 17.
